Sandy Cockrell is a Board Member and is on the Finance Committee
I moved from North San Diego County to St. James in April 2020. I have an accounting/bookkeeping practice and a QuickBooks Pro Advsor which enables me to work remotely from anywhere. I enjoy helping to solve accounting issues, setting up systems, and training people on the most efficient way to do their accounting and bookkeeping. I've been helping a number of businesses navigate operating during Covid-19 and how to do the paperwork for PPP.
I also have an MBA and a MAED (Masters of Adult Education specifically in Distance learning).
I am a new board member. I am on the finance committee and have not yet started activity participating. Donna will be mentoring me to take over her role as Finance/Accountant next year.
I have donated my time to non-profits throughout the years, usually in the role of Finance. I have been involved in raising money for the American Cancer Society by setting up annual fun raising events. Specifically, while working for the accounting firm, I brought in finance/legal tax specialist speakers, and was responsible for selling tables to accounting and law firms throughout San Diego County. Have volunteered my services to my HOA, and several non-profits as a way for me to give back to the community. As I have had several non-profits clients in my accounting/bookkeeping practice, I am extremely excited to be a part of the finance team.
Samara’s Village affords me an opportunity to contribute to the community once again, to an extremely worthwhile non-profit.
Right know my fun is unpacking and getting settled. Hopefully very soon, I can get back to working out, fishing, sailing, tennis, swimming, genealogy, photography, and generally have the time of my life here in St. James!
I was scheduled to take a cruise and inland three-week vacation to Croatia this July. Looks like it will be next year. I am a genealogist and my grandparents were born in Croatia. I cannot wait until next year when I can do genealogy research and visit the towns where my relatives grew up.
