My wife Sharon and I moved to Southport two years ago from the Wasington, DC area. We have five children and five grandchildren. I retired from the National Science Foundation six years ago. Prior to NSF, I was a university faculty member (mathematics). Since retiring I have enjoyed volunteering. In Virginia I volunteered as an ESL instructor, tutor in a special needs high school, and instructor with Computer Core (computer skills, professional development, preparation for community college placement tests). I also became certified as a personal trainer. In NC, I have volunteered as a tutor at local middle school, GED tutor, tutor for after schools program, and fitness class instructor at a senior center.
I am just now joining Samara's Village team as a volunteer.
I think Samara's Village serves an incredibly important need in our community.
I enjoy sailing (Sunfish), kayaking, golf, traveling, and walking and seeing friends/meeting new people in Southport
We enjoy discovering new rivers to kayak in the area.
